Being that I am both an Eagles fan and a Miami Dolphins fan, I've got a lot to complain about so far in this draft. First off my criticisms of the draft in general. Because I spend most of my time at work on espn.com and reading the Philadelphia Daily News, there's been way too much coverage of this fucking draft. I've seen so many mock drafts leading up to the real draft and you know what, none of them were really like how it turned out. And I'm fucking tired of seeing Mel Kiper and his fucking hair on tv. And 15 minutes for each team in the first round of the draft is way too long. Ten minutes should suffice.
So back to my criticisms of my two teams. First the Dolphins. Alright so I was watching the draft as I was cleaning up my room and I saw that Cleveland, who most mock drafts had taking Brady Quinn, took Tackle Joe Thomas with the third pick. Looking at the teams that stood between then and the Dolphins 9th pick, none of those teams really needed a quarterback so I started getting psyched about the possibility of the Dolphins drafting Quinn and forgetting about that fuck face Daunte Culpepper. So while the Dolphins were on the clock, ESPN's reporter interviewed Brady about the possibility of being drafted by the Dolphins and then with about 3 minutes left on the clock, she asked if he had gotten a phone call from the Dolphins and he said no. Right then and there I knew they weren't going to pick him and I started getting pissed. Then the Commish made the announcement that they had selected Ted Ginn Jr. and I flipped out. Ted Ginn jr (you've read it here first) will be nothing more than a #2 or #3 wide receiver and did not deserve top 10 pick status. He probably won't even be fully recovered from his foot injury to make a significant contribution this year. I enjoyed at Cam Cameron's announcement at a season ticket holder's draft party when everyone was booing him and yelling some explicitives at him. In the second round, the Dolphins did the right thing and draft BYU's John Beck, who according to ESPN's plethora of experts is basically the same quarterback as Brady but he'll cost a lot less money to sign. The only knock I have on John Beck is that a) he's 25 and b) he's Mormon (if you've seen South Park's Mormon episode you'd agree with me haha). We'll see how this all plays out.
Now the Eagles tried to top the Dolphins in futility and I think they've succeeded thus far. Going into the draft, everyone was talking about how they needed to draft a safety and/or cornerback in the first round. Some of the players mentioned included Nelson from Florida and Merriweather from Miami and both came off the board before the Eagle's pick. So instead of drafting another corner or safety, the Eagles trade their pick to the fucking Cowboys who used their pick on a DE. As Chris Berman said, "If this guy is sacking Donovan McNabb next season, there's going to be hell to pay from the Philly fans and the media. But the Eagles did end up getting another 2nd round pick, 3rd round pick, and 6th? round pick in this trade. So with their first 2nd round pick, I was looking at some of the players still available and there still were a couple guys I had seen mentioned as players of interest for the Eagles. So what do they do with this pick? They draft a QUARTERBACK who wasn't even considered one of the top 3 quarterbacks still available on the board. A QUARTERBACK?! you gotta be kidding me. That's it the Eagles officially topped the Dolphins on who has had a worse draft so far. I'll have another update as this draft progresses.

Baseball players can be human beings too...
While perusing most of ESPN's Page2 during my usual boring day of work, I came upon the blog of Minnesota Twins' reliever Pat Neshek, who's pretty down to earth and is a big baseball card collector. It's actually picqued my interest in baseball cards a little bit. I might actually dig up my shoe box of old cards and take a look at my Rueben Sierra rookie card or... even better my Natrone Means rookie card... that's gotta get at least one maybe two big ones... But yeah the blog also gives some insight into life on the road as a baseball player, from the perspective of a true baseball fan, not someone who's just in it for the fame and money.

Roberto Luongo for MVP...
He's the reason that the Canucks made it past the first round of the playoffs... actually he's the reason they made the playoffs at all, getting the third seed. If the Canucks can pick up a proven scorer through free agency this offseason, they're going to be the team to beat in the West... Also I think I'm definitely going to be purchasing a Roberto Luongo old school Canucks jersey like the ones they were wearing in Game 7 vs. Dallas...

The Sopranos / Entourage...
Alright so we're 3 episodes deep into the final season of The Sopranos and nobody of importance has died yet. come on... one of the main reasons I watch is to see who's going to get whacked next.. tony should have fucking whacked paulie out on that boat this week... and bobby bacala should be dead as well... you can't fuck with the boss like that. here's to someone dying next week... here here
Entourage has been somewhat of a disappointment as well... I was under the impression that jeremy piven was leaving the show ( I guess its not until after this season then) which was really disappointing because he's always been my favorite character on the show and this whole bullshit about him swooning over losing vince and being depressed was a load of crap. And how does Vince still have money with how he and his crew spend cash and he hasn't done a movie in a while. Maybe I'm thinking a little to into it. Also I'm glad that Carla Gugino (Amanda, Vince's new agent) has joined the cast because she smoking in my opinion and she was hot in Sin City and Son-in-Law (yeah I watch it whenever it's on cable)

United 93...
alright so i watched united 93 the other day and it was a pretty emotional movie... obviously I knew how the movie was going to end but the whole time I was cheering for everyone to beat the shit out of those arab bastards... when they charged those fucking terrorists on the plane I was yelling out loud for them to kill them. When they beat the shit out of the one guy with the fire extinguisher I felt satisfied. Also the ending when you get the view out of the cockpit as the plane fell nose first into the ground was very surreal. As soon as it went to black a rush of emotion came over me. It was like a rush of air that came from the tv... what ruined that feeling was my sister shortly after that telling me about a conspiracy theory someone had told her boyfriend about how jets had shot down the plane. FUCK THAT SHIT... i hate conspiracy theories

Night out @ Marty Magees Rebuttal...
Alright what made sense last night sounds pretty stupid today... it's going to be highly amusing writing in this when i'm drunk... especially when i say stupid shit like that. On a side note, there was talk of going to a Ladies Night at Thomas's Pub in Secane on Sunday night... I think whatever woman is at a ladies night at Thomas's is probably not any kind of girl I would seek out...

Night out @ Marty Magees
AUTHOR'S NOTE: I am either drunk and/or buzzed at the time of this posting.
So I made a realization tonight in hanging out with sean's brother joe... in regards to girls I've been going about it the wrong way.... instead of worrying about finding common interests and building a relationship from all of this, I should be having myself a good time and doing what may come about. It all makes sense now at my point of consumption we'll see what it sounds like tomorrow when I wake up with a wicked headache and a good hangover going. But yeah it all makes sense right now and I'm a rejuvenated person... like i said we'll see if it carries over into tomorrow... also sean's brother threw up on my shorts and shoes... it's all good though because i've thrown up on my shoes plenty of times... shit happens
ONCE AGAIN I"M AM GOING TO REITERATE THAT I AM DRUNK AND/OR BUZZING WHEN I WRITE THIS SO IT I MAY HAVE SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TO SAY TOMORROW... STAY POSTED FOR A REBUTTAL...

TEN concert criticisms with Marty & me...
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Most of the quotes / events of this night are purely from my memory so it may not be all accurate.
Alright so I was at the Early November's last show at the Trocadero taking notes for a concert review that I hope may be published in a magazine in the near future, I realized that it would be even more comical if I chronicled my concert experience with the ever-opinionated Marty. He's got great insight into a lot of different things and he's pretty funny about it at the same time. So here are some of the conversations we had while watching the opening bands, OneTwoThreeFour and The Verdict.
So the night that we went to the show, there happened to be a pretty good downpour for most of the day and it went well into the night. So we were rushing from the car to the venue to avoid getting completely soaked. On the way to the Troc, Marty mentioned in passing that he would prefer to stop and grab something to eat before we went in because he was starving. Unfortunately I wasn't paying attention to him at the time, and he just simply followed me into the Troc. Keep in mind that Marty complained for the rest of the night that a) he was hungry and b) we should have stopped for some food before we went in. Marty quote: "Buy some goddamn QTips and clean out your ears." It also ended up that I had mistaken my notepad in my pocket for my wallet, so I now had no wallet and we therefore had no way to get up to the bar area up in the balcony. So I was batting a thousand now at this point and it didn't help that doors had opened at 6:00PM but the first band didn't go on until after 7PM... I fucking hate when they do that. The odds continued to be stacked up against us when we realized that the median age of the crowd was about 17-18... that really makes me feel old.
So the first band walks on stage (OneTwoThreeFour) and it ends up that their lead singer is a chick (also keep in mind that this blog is not meant to be politically correct). Marty turns to me and simply states, "I hate bands with chicks in them." It ended up that this chick was Ace Ender's sister so that kind of picqued my interest. It also kind of helped that she was pretty cute (Marty may disagree but fuck him) and she had an alright voice. In observing the band, the one rhythm guitarist caught our attention because a) it didn't even look like he was playing and b) he spent half of the songs tuning his guitar. What would have made my night would have been if he spent a whole song tuning one of his guitars, not playing at all during the song, and then simply put that guitar down and grabbed another. He came pretty close to doing that. Marty had the winning comment by saying that that guy was only in the band because of pity. It was as if the band was like, 'Alright I guess you can be in the band, but we're probably not going to let you plug in.' So the band was done in about 20 minutes and I / we learned a few things from them. Anyone can be in a band if they can act like they're tuning their guitar and are not actually plugged in. Chicks in bands aren't always a bad thing (my opinion). And finally, OneTwoThreeFour is not that bad of a band (they remind me of Eisley) I downloaded their 4 song EP from here: http://www.regularmusic.net/
The second opening band was The Verdict from North Carolina. Just hearing that they were from North Carolina made me feel uneasy. This was another case of having a chick in the band, except this time she was not the lead singer, but instead the keyboardist. She was also extremely hott (girls definitely get bonus points from me when they're in bands). This band had a definite country twang to them, with three vocal part choruses. At times I felt like I was at a Big & Rich show or some fucking shit like that. All we needed was some square dancers. And speaking of dancing, the lead singer was all over the place and his dance moves had a fairy-esque feel to them. "The dude's too happy". The lead singer also mentioned the band's myspace page way too many times and one of the highlights of the performance was when they had tried to get the crowd to sing the chorus by themselves and nobody fucking sang. Classic. The Marty quote of the performance came when the chick walked off stage for a good portion of one of the songs. "She probably got her period." God I love being over critical of bands and of the whole scene in general.
I don't really have much to write about the Early November's performance because that's who we were there to see and there was no need for us to be overcritical of anything. Plus I was immersed in taking notes for the review that I have since wrote. If it has no chance of being published there's a good chance i will post the review on here in the near future.
